Paul McCann: Game Night in Smashville

Tonight will be a decent barometer for this team - but beware the angry opponent who might come out with something to prove after getting embarrassed.

I think the next 10 games may very well tell the story for the whole season. If the road trip and the tougher opponents cause the team to come together and forge an identity - that will be great. If not...it could get ugly in a hurry.

It will be interesting to see how Stalberg's role develops. Will they put him on a top line with Wilson & just go with it? Or is Trotz still trying to figure out what to do with him?

Always tough to win the last of a long roadie, but the embarassment factor should play into it, especially for JQuick. Add to it that Quick knows he'll be getting compared to Bernier's dominance over the Preds, and this game can go either way for him. I'm hoping for a strong bounce-back game and a 3-1 early season road trip.

What an awful November schedule.....better get at least 1 point from this game. Hard to believe no OT yet... suspect first one will be tonight.

I hope Scrivens starts tonight. Something is up with Quick. The dude is just not into it right now. He couldnt stop a beach ball if it hit him in the mask. The guys are playing better infront of Scrivens leaving me to believe something is up with Quick.

Good write up Paul.

Man Seth Jones is going to be a stud. Really have enjoyed watching him.

Purely coach's man. When Murray was coaching in LA he nvr used Frolov and he was a stud in shootouts. But Murray just didnt like the guy.

I can't believe that 3 teams have passed on Jones and nobody traded up to get him.

IMO, his turnover (234th of the game) in the offensive zone led to LA's goal.

Another year, another offensively challenged Predators team. Whatever they do for shootout preparation clearly is not working and has not worked for the last several years. As soon as they failed to score on the 4 on 3 overtime PP, I looked at my wife and said "we're going to lose in a shootout." Sometimes it's frustrating to be right.

And yet Trotz had him out there for the entire 2 min power play in overtime. We were pissed.

Say what you want about things not working out because of Legwand, but Trotz is making some terrible coaching decisions from who gets what amount of ice time, who plays, who sits, who gets put on the ice in certain situations etc. I'm just about ready for a change.
